Food Assistance
Elizabethton City Schools will provide meals to students 18 years or younger. Breakfast will be available from 9:00 am - 9:30 am and lunch services from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm. Meals will be distributed using car pick-up lines in the parking lots of meal pick-up locations. Adults may purchase meals for $3.75. Meal pick-up is available at the following locations:
East Side Elementary School, 800 Siam Rd
Harold McCormick Elementary School, 226 S Cedar Ave, Elizabethton
West Side Elementary, 1310 Burgie St.
Carter County Schools will be distributing breakfast and lunch between 12 pm — 1 pm Mondays and Wednesdays. Breakfast and lunch will both be distributed to any child 18 years or younger. Meal pick-up is available at the following locations:

Cloudland Elementary School, 305 Academy St
Happy Valley Elementary School, 163 Warpath Ln
Hampton High School, 766 1st Ave
Little Milligan Elementary School, 4226 US-321
Volunteers will also be distributing meals at other locations throughout the community from 12 pm - 12:30 pm M-F .

Economic Assistance
Local Utilities:
The Elizabethton City Council passed an ordinance giving the city manager the authority to adjust utility rates, late fees, installation and disconnection fees to provide economic relief to those impacted by the coronavirus
Mountain Electric Cooperative has closed their lobby to the public. Payments can be made online or at the drive-thru. Customers who have been impacted by the coronavirus can contact (423) 772-3521 or online

Safety & Support
Carter County Mayor Barnett issued a safer at home order on March 30. People should only leave the home when engaging in essential activities, such as obtaining groceries, seeking medical attention, or attending work as necessary. The order also closes all non-essential businesses and asks people to practice social distancing

Patients must be pre-screened and pre-registered to receive coronavirus testing, and only those with the most severe symptoms will be able to get tested. Those who are concerned they may have symptoms should call the Northeast Coronavirus Information Hotline at (423) 979-4689 M-F, 8 am - 6 pm. Coronavirus testing is available at:

Transportation
Carter County is served by NET Trans, which provides rides for senior citizens who need to go to the grocery store, pharmacy, doctor’s offices, and other needs. To schedule a ride, please visit their website or call (423) 461-8233
