Food Assistance

  • All Cocke County schools will provide breakfast and lunch to students Monday & Wednesday from 10 am - 1 pm. Children must be present to receive meals and will receive food through a drive-thru service, no one may enter the building. Mondays children will receive two or each meal and three of each meal on Wednesdays

  • Appalachia: Mission Pawsible is providing two weeks of pet food to those impacted by COVID-19 on a case-by-case basis. To get more information, visit their website here or call (423) 398-3380

Economic Assistance

  • Local Utilities:

    • Newport Utilities is postponing disconnecting services for non-payment to reduce expenses for those impacted by the coronavirus. For more information or to discuss payment options, call customer service at (423) 625-2800, option 7.

    • Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority provides emergency assistance in areas such as rent, mortgages, and food. For more information. The number for the Cocke County Office is (423) 623-3066

    • Jefferson & Cocke County Utility District has closed their lobby, payments can be made online or via the drive-thru. If you are have been impacted by the coronavirus and are having difficulty making payments, please visit their website or call them at:

  • National Utilities:

Safety & Support

  • Government offices are currently closed to the public, Contact information for those offices is available here

  • Mayor Ottinger instituted safer at home guidelines aligned with those issued by Governor Lee, asking residents to avoid social gatherings of ten people or more and closing restaurants and bars, except for drive-thru, pickup, carryout, and delivery services. These orders are currently in place through April 14

Transportation

  • East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (ETHRA) will schedule transportation services for those without their own means of transportation. People can use this service to obtain groceries, go to work, seek medical attention, or other pressing needs. Fees are $3.00 one way.
